Catrina "The Peasant"

“La Campesina” is a Catrina with a folkloric, cheerful, and rural style that contrasts with the traditional figure of elegant Catrinas.

Her clothing includes a vibrant purple skirt or petticoat decorated with a pattern of large, colorful flowers (red, yellow, blue, and white) topped with a bright yellow border for a festive touch. She wears a black bodice with white ribs and sternum, emphasizing her skeletal nature.

She holds a small brown braided basket filled with flowers or fruits in autumn colors such as red and orange, which she carries as an offering. It is adorned with small black and orange Monarch butterflies that also adorn her hair, which is either tied back or combed back, giving it a feminine and traditional touch. 

The skull's face is simple and smiling, and its posture is active and welcoming as it greets and simultaneously holds its basket containing the offering.
